Hot Rubber Crack Fill
Hot rubber crack filling is one of the most important services for maintaining and extending the life of an asphalt driveway or parking lot. As the base beneath asphalt shifts over time, cracks are inevitable especially in New Hampshire’s freeze/thaw conditions. Left untreated, cracks allow water to penetrate the surface, wash out the base, and in winter, freeze and expand making cracks wider and increasing the chance of potholes.
Hot rubber crack filling is the most economical way to slow this deterioration. The rubber seals the crack and helps prevent water intrusion, which protects the base and stabilizes the surrounding asphalt.
Our Hot Rubber Crack Filling Process
-
Crack preparation and cleaning – We remove debris and vegetation that can compromise adhesion and performance. This is done using a combination of weed whackers, torches, steel brooms, and blowers.
-
Hot rubber application – We apply rubber using our Crafco SuperShot 250, heated to 350–400°F per product specifications, so it flows into the crack and seals properly.
-
Top dressing for durability – Once applied, we top the crack with a black sand slag, which helps prevent tracking on tires, improves adhesion to sealcoating, and reinforces the repair.
How Long Does Hot Rubber Crack Filling Last?
In most conditions, we expect 3–5 years of performance, depending on the condition of the asphalt, the width and severity of the cracks, and whether the base continues to shift.
